When Execution Fails, Start With Clarity

mm14

When business plan execution is not delivering the desired results, leaders often jump straight to a strategy refresh.

More often, the real issue is simpler and cheaper to fix: lack of clarity.
Too many priorities. Unclear ownership. Vague success metrics. The downstream effects are predictable: duplicated effort, slower decisions, and frustration across every generation.

Clarity is also one of the most inclusive things a leader can deliver. Gallup’s data shows younger professionals are leaving (or disengaging) because they don’t know what success looks like or how their work connects to impact.

The most effective leaders I work with:
• Ruthlessly prioritize what actually moves the needle
• Define ownership at every level
• Communicate context consistently and often

Clarity doesn’t just support execution. It enables it—and it levels the playing field for every generation on the team.

Where could your company gain the biggest performance edge through better clarity?
